About the Founder

Anne Adams is a Nigerian artist and ceramicist from Southern Kaduna, based in Philadelphia. She began working with clay in Nigeria, later moving to Lagos to study ceramics before earning her MFA from Tyler School of Art and Architecture in Philadelphia.

Her work has been shown internationally, including at The Salon Revelations Biennale in France, The Clay Studio, 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London, Expo Chicago, NADA New York, and NADA Miami.

Anne works primarily by hand, building and carving forms that draw from West African material histories. She founded Khaya to bring this way of making into everyday life, creating functional objects with the same care and attention she brings to her studio practice.

For Anne, the objects we live with are never just objects. They become part of our identity, our homes, our routines and our memories.
